Hello,

I need to upgrade my ram to 8gb. I found out that I have already have Samsung M471A5244CB0-CTD 1x4GB.

So can you find me a 4GB compatiable ram that support.

Will it support dual channel memory.

Can it run at 2400 or more.

It has an M.2 slot which I think can run at sata speed.

How can I find it can run at nvme speed PCIe NVMe SSD. Is there any software to check?(PCI-E 3.0 x4)

Please give me an answer, No need of the manual

Here's the Service Manual, which has the answer to your questions:

Manual

On your AMD Ryzen system there are 2 slots for DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM memory which will run in dual channel at 2400 mhz speed if two identical modules are installed. Upgrade procedure starts on p. 37 with back cover removal.

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PC4-19200-DDR4-2400MHz-Unbuffered-M471A5244CB0-CRC/dp/B071DVWQFC/ref=...

Add the module above and you will have 8 gigs running in dual channel mode at 2400 mhz. Can't go any faster.

The M.2 slot is on the far right of the chassis as seen with the rear cover removed and the screen hinges to the rear. It can accept either a SATA-3 2280 form factor M.2 OR a PCIe/NVME type which I recommend. Samsung 970 Evo should work fine.

HP only sells it with up to a 256 gig NVME but you can go larger if you wish.

Hi,

Thank you for the help.

Can I use other company ram with same specs. Like this one. please check it out  and also is there any way to buy a backlit keyboard for my model, since there are many other same models with backlit keyboard in the segments. I have seen it the manual with part number for backlit keyboard. But I couldn't find it online.

Backlit keyboard upgrade is pretty much a non-starter as keyboard is fastened into the top cover and HP only offers the whole top cover (very pricey) as a replacment part. You can find just the keyboard on eBay or otherwise online but Users here have reported struggling to get it installed and all sorts of problems afterwards. Requires melting fasteners.

The memory you linked is low density 8 blocks on the side of the module and you have high density (4 blocks). You do not need to use the same brand but try to find one with the same density as what you have.

Thank you for the advice.

Sorry,I didn't understand what you have told me about the ram density 8 and 4 module.

Could you please find me a product from www.amazon.in (  India )

This would be better:

I see it is a bit more expensive. By density I mean count the black square blocks on the side of the module. Some have 4 blocks and some have 8. You want the one with 4. The one with 8 is highly likely to work fine but all else equal, you want to run 2 modules as close to identical as possible, to be sure of dual channel operation.

Hi,

Thank you for your help. Now I get what you meant by module. So if 8 module is 512Mb*8 equals 4Gb, so I need to look for 4 module, ie 1Gb*4 equals 4Gb.. rIGHT???

Usually just sold as single and dual "rank" i.e row, if they even offer that option. This site offers single and dual rak modules from the same purchase point.

This is the cpu-z report.  Why is it runnung at 1333Mhz since it supports 2666Mhz? Is it because of the single memory installed. will I get the full potential by installing the second ram in the empty slot.

2666 is not really 2666 it is 1333 x 2 because it is double data rate. The motherboard fetches data from the memory twice on every cycle so the "real" speed is 1333. The specs you give do not really say what speed the memory is actually running at. That is the JEDEC table which shows what speeds it can run at various latencies. Likely you are at JEDEC 17. This also tells me the module in your computer is DDR4-2666 but the Manual says the max speed it can run is 2400. Still you should get another DDR4-2666 module to pair with the existing one. Dual channel dies not make the memory run faster it opens up a wider road for the memory to travel on so speeds up performance that way.
