New hard disk compatible with the particular hp laptop

Pavilion-15-n225tu Notebook pc
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to upgrade to a new hard disk , since the previous one seems to be dying.

Current hd :

New hd Specs reqd: 7200rpm , 500gb

Please mention some hard drives compatible with my model.

Will a 7200rpm hd be even supported by the laptop ?

Also does the size(inch) spec matters  (eg, 2.5" or 3.5") for being supported by the laptop ?

Hi,

Basically, any 2.5" SATA3 Hard drive will work as long as the thickness is max 9.5mm (so basically drives up to 2TB). Yes, you can use a 5400RPM drive or 7200RPM drive. You could also use an SSD which would greatly increase the everyday performance of the PC. Or even an SSHD which are cheaper, but will still give a boost.

On page 59 of the service manual you can see the steps to replace the drive:

https://www.amazon.in/Samsung-250GB-Internal-Solid-MZ-76E250BW/dp/B079DTMNWC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=...

Hope it helps,

David
