I installed a new hard drive trying to reinstall Windows 10 every time I do I get the HP logo before windows can even start I get a rainbow static screen  I can still kind of see the HP logo behind it but it doesn't do anything think it needs drivers or even a bios update trying for 3 days tried every combination of BIOS settings even tested the hard drive in another machine. I would like to know how to update the BIOS using a USB and the BIOS install SCREEN I can't figure it out all your chatbot tells me is to click the EXE I can't click the EXE as I don't have Windows yet every time your website asks me for a serial number I type it in they say it's not real

@MaddHatter905, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you’re dealing with a tough issue, but I’ll guide you through the steps to update the BIOS and reinstall Windows 10 on your HP system. You’re on the right track trying to update the BIOS before installing Windows, as it can sometimes fix compatibility problems, especially with new hardware like your hard drive.

Step 1: Update BIOS Using USB

Download BIOS Update:

Go to the HP Support Website and search for your HP model.

Download the BIOS update file (it’ll be an .exe file).

Prepare USB Drive:

Format a USB drive to FAT32.

Copy the BIOS .exe file to the USB.

Update BIOS:

Plug the USB into the HP PC.

Power on the PC, and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.

Find the "BIOS Update" or "UEFI Update" option in the BIOS menu.

Select the BIOS file from your USB and follow the instructions to update.

Step 2: Install Windows 10

Create Windows 10 USB:

On a working computer, go to the Windows 10 Download Page.

Use the Media Creation Tool to make a bootable Windows 10 USB (at least 16GB).

Install Windows 10:

Plug the Windows USB into the HP PC.

Power on the PC and press Esc or F9 to bring up the boot menu.

Select the USB to boot from and follow the prompts to install Windows 10.

Step 3: Install Drivers

Go to HP Support again and download all necessary drivers for your model (Wi-Fi, graphics, etc.).

Run Windows Update after installing Windows 10 to get the latest updates.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
