My new laptop is installing updates but the fan is loud and my laptop is hot to the touch. Is this normal due to installations?

To be honest Windows 10 when is updating is using all the system to the maximum!

But if is too hot as you say may you need to clean the cpu fan. If you are in warranty contact the hp technical department to proceed with fan replacement if is faulty.

tip: if we are talking for bios updates. all HP models on bios updates are running the fans to the maximum speed

Thank you. It's a brand new pc and it looks like it was running its max speed due to updates.
