Non riconosce secondo disco memoria usb e

Salve, ho un hp pavillion 15 eg0000xxx di due anni con processore i7 e 1 terabyte di memoria. Andando in Dispositivi e unità mi sono accorta che rileva la memoria Windows c e non la seconda memoria, l'icona è grigia e dice usb e "inserire un disco rigido in usb e". La memoria è dimezzata. Come mai? Cosa devo fare? Grazie
