HP Recommended
Pavillion 15
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

2 years old. Unit will not turn on. Totally dead. No lights at all. I have tried:

- holding in the start button for 30 seconds and all times in between

- Swapping chargers as I have two - both HP originals

- I have removed all plug ins  (which was only a mouse transmitter)

- I have left the unit recharging overnight direct into the mains (normally plugged into surge protector) but nothing.

- the unit is sealed and I am reluctant to open it as I really don't know what I am doing.

Further hints useful but actually my question is whether it is worth paying for someone to look at this or shall I ditch it?

It is on a PC World lease and I have just discovered that this affords me no  protection at all -  buyer beware - so trying to get another 12 months out of it will help me immensely.
