HP Compaq 6830s
Microsoft Windows XP

Hello,

in a notebook HP Compaq 6830s , after the computer has suddenly switched off several times for a problem to the power cord ( the battery doesn't go ) , the HD seems no longer to be detected .

Obviously Windows doesn't start ( ' Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt : \ WINDOWS \ SYSTEM32 \ CONFIG \ SYSTEM ') , and I can not even restore the files from CD - ROM : the procedure hangs with blue screen .

If I start the test on the HD from the BIOS, the test is stopped immediately with the message ' Hard disk test failed - error reading ' .

The HD connected to another PC is working. It does not seem to be a HD problem.

I tried to insert another HD and even this HD does not seem to be detected .

What tests can I do to find out if indeed the HD is not detected and why ?

Thank you
