Hi! I've this model of notebook. I would like to know if changing the original optical drive to this one ( https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B0088WOALW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3HOYHSJFHU4P2&psc=1 )I still have the warranty. If it's not possible, is there unother way to put un hard disc drive without void the waranty?
In the case that I decide to change it, the battery life will decrease a lot?
Thank you

Hi @riccardograssi,
Good Day. Thanks for posting your query in the HP community. I read the post regarding issues with warranty if an another optical drive is installed. It will be a pleasure to assist you here.
Commendable diagnosis and splendid description of the issue before posting. Hats off to you on that score.
To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this.
- Do you plan to install an optical drive or a hard drive?
- To answer your question, if the optical drive is compatible with your computer, it will not void the warranty if the optical drive is installed correctly without any damage to the internals of the computer.
- HP will cover only the original parts that came with the computer and not the optical drive.
- A second hard drive cannot be installed without removing the first hard drive.
- The battery life will be affected a little more if you watch videos from the Optical drive or paly music tracks as an additional part is being added to the computer which is an additional load on the computer.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead.
