OMEN Fan too loud - should I return the laptop or is there a way to fix this?

I just got the OMEN a week ago and the fan is extremely loud. My work computer is an ASUS with a low grade graphics card and medium grade processor, and I can play games on it without the fan ever getting insanely loud. The HP OMEN will turn its fan on at the most random times...just booting up, playing a casual game like the Sims 4, or even yesterday when I was in the other room and the laptop was shut, and all of a sudden I hear the OMEN fan kick on again. While the computer was supposedly asleep. 

I'm considering returning the computer. Is there any way to fix this?
