Hi. I have an HP Envy x360 Convertible 15-bq0xx, purchased in 2017. The fan is getting noisy and I'd like to replace it myself, but I don't know what I need to order. I mean, can I order the fan separately, or is it a combined unit with the heatsink? I could open the case and look for myself, but with my untrained eye I don't trust myself to answer this question myself. Also, should I order from HP or are non-HP parts okay?

Hi,
You do not provide the exact model or product number (you provide the series)
So officially the fan and heatsink is one assembly as you can see on page 45 of the service manual. Depending on what CPU you have in the machine the part number is different as the heatsink changes (the fan is the same). You can just replace the fan.
For use only on computer models equipped with an AMD Ryzen5 processor part number L00161-001
For use only on computer models equipped with an AMD FX, A12, or A9 processor part number 924328-001

Clean off the old thermal paste from heatsink and cpu and use quality paste when reapplying the heatsink.
Hope it helps,
David

Hi Iomare,
Many thanks for your kind and extremely helpful reply. Now I know I only need to purchase a fan. My processor is the AMD A12, so part number 924328-001 is the appropriate one. I'll be sure to provide full details in future posts. Take care.
