Can an SSD (Samsung 250GB 970 EVO PLUS NVMe M. 2) be installed instead of 16 gb of optane memory?

You can find documentation for your machine here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-gaming-15-cx0000-laptop-pc/20284020/model/24434554/...

Page 2 of the manual shows that dual storage is a possibility with the M.2 slot:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05985643.pdf

Also, since it is already using Optane , you could put one of these in there, or larger.

https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Intel/HBRPEKNX0101A01?qs=sGAEpiMZZMu3sxpa5v1qrhi%2FDDEKTlSRcIlx...

Edit: That link does not work as I expected. At that link search for 607-HBRPEKNX0101A01 it is Intel Optane 256GB SSD with a 16GB buffer for M.2

But, if you want to use the Samsung stick it should work.
