Hello,
Can anyone tell me what kind of port does HP Pavilion - 17-ab404na uses to connect the optical drive to the motherboard?

The reason I'm asking is because I want to know if I can replace the Optical drive with an SSD in the future.
Thank you.

What for, this won't work as you thought. It is much better to use one of the following options
- Add M.2 SATAIII/NVMe SSD to your machine and use it as system drive and use existing HDD for storage. 1TB of Crucial P1 or Samsung 970 EVO ... would give you more storage and faster machine.
- Replace HDD with 1TB or 2TB 2.5" SSD and if you wish, move the existing HDD to ODD slot with a caddy because SSD on the ODD slot won't work as you wish.
I would pick option 1 and keep the ODD
Regards.
