Hello!

The original 1 TB hard drive that came with the laptop seems to be going bad. Can I swap the HD with a SSD internal drive? Please suggest which type is compatible?

 

I checked Amazon.com for Crucial MX500 2.5 internal SSD and the "AmazonConfirmedFit" check says "We're not sure this item fits your HP PAVILION 15-CC553CL".

Hi Challu,

Yes, you can replace the 2.5" Hard Drive with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD. You can choose your preferred brand and capacity. The Samsung 860 Evo is considered the best, however, I have used the Crucial MX500 often with good results. It will give a great boost to everyday performance.

On page 40 of service manual you can see the steps to install the drive:
