HP 14 inch Laptop PC 14-d3000 (2L0Z3AV)

I recently had my laptop working fine, then the next morning all of the sudden it would not start up at all.

The power LED Blinks 3 times whenever I try to press the power button to turn it on yet nothing.

Any solution or idea what this might be so that I could try and fix it?

Thanks.

Hi @PissedUpPanda,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When the power LED on an HP 14-inch Laptop blinks 3 times and the device does not power on, it typically indicates a hardware issue, usually related to memory (RAM). Here are some steps you can try to diagnose and possibly fix the issue.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the AC power adapter and remove any external devices (USBs, peripherals).
  • If possible, remove the battery (if it’s a removable battery model).
  • Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds to drain residual power.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter (and the battery if removable), then try powering on the laptop again.

Reseat the RAM:

  • If you’re comfortable opening your laptop, you can try reseating the RAM. This involves:
    • Powering off the laptop and disconnecting it from any power source.
    • Opening the back cover of the laptop (refer to the manual for instructions).
    • Carefully removing the RAM stick(s) from the slot(s), cleaning the contacts lightly, and reseating them.
    • Close the cover and try turning on the laptop again.

Check Power Source & Connections:

  • Make sure the power adapter is working correctly. Try using a different adapter if possible or testing the current one with another device.
  • Ensure that the power jack on the laptop is not loose or damaged.

Test with One RAM Stick (If You Have Two):

  • If your laptop has two RAM sticks, try booting with just one stick installed. Test each stick individually in both slots to see if one of them is faulty.

Reset the BIOS:

  • Some HP laptops have a specific key combination to reset the BIOS. Check if there’s a dedicated BIOS reset procedure for your model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
