I assume you mean this power socket:
Your HP EliteBook 2540p Notebook PC requires this power-connecter size: 7.4mm/5.0mm (PA-1650-20HM, TPN-LA16) with central smart-pin inside for your power socket. This is for a 65-watt power supply adapter, with 19.9V - 3.33A output, such as these HP p/n: 613161-001, 609939-001, 613152-001 and L40094-001 laptop chargers.
