Hi @megan_fox

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That error message means your computer isn’t detecting a bootable operating system, which could be caused by a disconnected drive, corrupted boot files, or incorrect BIOS settings.

Let's go through some steps to get it fixed:

1. Check Boot Order in BIOS

  • Turn off your laptop.
  • Power it on and immediately start pressing F10 (or Esc, then F10) to enter BIOS.
  • Look for Boot Order/Priority and make sure your internal storage drive is listed first.
  • If your drive isn’t listed, it might not be detected—try reseating it if possible.

2. Ensure the Drive is Detected

  • In BIOS, go to Storage Configuration or System Information.
  • Confirm that your hard drive or SSD appears. If it’s missing, it might be loose or failing.

3. Try Automatic Repair

  • If you have a Windows installation USB:
    1. Insert it and boot into it (F9 to select boot device).
    2. Choose Repair Your ComputerTroubleshootStartup Repair.

4. Check Hard Drive with Disk Utility

  • If you suspect drive failure:
    • Run chkdsk /r C: from Command Prompt if you can access recovery mode.
    • Use HP’s built-in hardware diagnostics (F2 on boot).

If your laptop still won’t boot, let me know what you've tried, and we can explore further options!
