Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I faced this problem when I tried to open my computer for the first time after I got back from my week-long trip. During the trip, no one used my computer or even touched it, and it remained unopened on my desk at home. When I tried to open it, it didn't open without plugging in and started showing a black CMOS error screen saying "CMOS Reset (502)" alongside another BIOS error screen saying "HP Battery Alert - Primary (internal) Battery (601)". Ever since, the battery doesn't charge and always shows 0%. Therefore, I can't use my computer without it being plugged in.

It's been only 16 months since I bought the computer, and I started having issues like a month back when it started to shut down all of a sudden while using programs like UNITY or Adobe Illustrator. I didn't think it through so much at first since I had to use a lot of different programs at the same time to do my college assignments and thought that I had just overstrained my computer. However, now I am thinking that those might be the early symptoms of this problem that I am facing right now.

I updated BIOS and Windows and also tried to run a couple of troubleshooting tests with HP Support Assistant and PC Hardware Diagnostic to solve the issue, but nothing seemed to work. All of the tests got canceled saying no battery is attached to the computer, and the problem persists.

What should I do? Should I change my battery, or can I solve this issue without touching my battery?

Thank you.

You are going to need to replace the battery with a new one to regain mobile use of your notebook PC.
