HP Laptop 15-dw0xxx
Microsoft Windows 11

I have recently looked into upgrading my laptop’s RAM. I found a manual for the laptop, but the manual really confused and did not help me. It says the laptop has dual channel support yet the configurations say 8gb x 1 and 4gb x 1 and that the laptop is not customer accessible/upgradable. Is there any way for me to upgrade my RAM, and if so what’s the best way to do it for maximum performance?

Hi:

It depends on what model processor your notebook has.

If it has an Intel core processor, there are two memory slots, and you can install up to 2 x 8 GB of memory.

If it has a Pentium or Celeron processor, there is one memory slot, and the slot can support 1 x 8 GB of memory.

The dual channel support listed under the Pentium/Celeron memory section is incorrect.

In order for the memory to run in dual channel mode, two slots have to be populated with memory modules of matching capacity (2 x 4 GB, 2 x 8 GB).

The ' not customer accessible/upgradable' statement means that HP wants any upgrades to be performed by an authorized service center.

The memory removal and replacement procedure can be found in chapter 5 of the manual you are looking at.

There is also a service teardown video you can watch.
