I have installed a recommended 16GB RAM upgrade (Integral DDR4 2400 PC4-19200) to this laptop but only 4GB is recognised.  The BIOS is up to date.  Am I missing something?  Has this machine been restricted to a maximum of 4GB RAM?

Thanks

Mike

Hi, Mike:

That's an unusual problem for which I don't have an answer other than to ask, did you first update the BIOS as part of the upgrade procedure prior to installing the memory as indicated in chapter 5, page 71 of the service manual?

The processor specs from Intel indicate the processor will support up to 32 GB of memory.

Intel Pentium Gold Processor 4417U 2M Cache 2.30 GHz Product Specifications

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the notebook model series will support 1 x 16 GB of memory.

I'm not familiar with the brand of memory you installed.

If the DDR4-2400 chip is CL17, then it should have worked.

If you updated the BIOS prior to installing the memory or you do and it still doesn't work, other than trying a different brand of memory, I don't know what other options you have.

This would be the same Crucial memory used in the 14-ce0xxx model series.
