Hi,

I want to upgrade RAM on My HP Victus 16-d0xxx. What is maximum memory limit? And does it support DDR 5 RAM?

Hi:

See chapter 1, page 2 of the service manual for the memory upgrade information.

Maintenance and Service Guide

DDR5 memory will not work in a notebook that uses DDR4 memory because DDR5 memory runs at a lower voltage than DDR4 memory and the notch in the DDR5 memory circuit board is cut in a different place than it is on a DDR4 memory chip, making it impossible for a DDR5 memory chip to fit in a DDR4 memory slot.

Thanks for providing detailed info. One thing I noted on the manual you shared. It mentioned DDR4-2933 (Core i5 processors) but my Victus came with pre-installed DDR4-3200 on Core i5 processor. Currently It is showing 3200MT/s. How is it possible?

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know why your notebook's memory is running at the full 3200 MHz.

Consider it lucky and probably the service manual is incorrect regarding that information.

"Thanks for clarifying, Paul. Good to know the Victus 16‑d0xxx can actually run RAM at the full 3200 MHz despite what the service manual says. That’s a pleasant surprise for anyone considering an upgrade. I’ve also shared a quick guide on compatible RAM kits and installation tips here: BN55 Earning App for those who want to get the most out of their Victus."
