HP Laptop 15-bs0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've had this laptop for about 2 years now and a few months back random keys have slowly stopped working and now are completely dead. The keys are B, N, Caps Lock, =, Delete, F1 and F12. I have tried many different options to even located the source of the issue, I keep my laptop very clean and don't mishandle it. Even the Geek Squad at Best Buy did not have any good ideas on the reason or how to fix it. This is the only issue with the laptop and I really would not like to have to get a new one already. Are there any other solutions?

@Allen1999,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you run a test on the keyboard to make sure that it is not a hardware issue.

Follow the steps in the below article to run the test on the keyboard.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259

If the test pass, then uninstall the keyboard driver from device manager and then restart the computer and check if it helps.

Here is how it is done.

  1. Type "Device Manager" into the search field to open the device manager console.
  2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
  3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
  4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thanks for you response

I tried the diagnose and my laptop was approved in all tests

Then I uninstalled the drive and restarted my laptop and the issue has not been fixed

Any other ideas or is the only choice replacing the keyboard?

@Allen1999,

Yes, it looks like we need to replace the keyboard to fix this issue.

I recommend you contact support and check the available service options for your computer.
