Hi @Iloveclaremont,

Good Day.  A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the post regarding t windows update not working and getting stuck. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Splendid description, brilliant troubleshooting and great observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

For providing you with an accurate response I would require more information regarding this.

  • Please let me know the complete model# of the computer and the operating system used.
  • This is because We need to troubleshoot the issue accordingly based on the operating system whether it is windows 8.1 or windows 10.
  • If you are stuck on the updates screen for hours, then please power down the computer by holding the power button down for a few seconds till it powers down.
  • Then power on the computer and try again. Ideally, it should not cause you to lose data unless the operating system gets corrupted while running the update.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂
