I cannot register this HP Pavilion g7 even when I provide these details: Serial no NOT GIVEN AS PER ADVICE PRODUCT B3D55EA#ABU MODEL g7-1358sa.
I need to register the old unit to buy a battery for it.
Any help to achieve these 2 goals would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You do not need to register the notebook to purchase a battery for it. Registration has al;ways been optional, except in order to have and use the warranty.
The description and part number for the compatible battery:
47 Whr, 2.20 Ah Li-ion battery HP p/n 593553-001
