Hi, a screw fell out a few months back and has since caused my laptop to crack near and around the power button. It is slowly getting worse, every time I close the laptop the hinge pulls on the crack so I would like to get a repair which I am happy to pay for as my laptop is out of warrranty.

Could someone please advise me on how I can go about doing this and the approximate costs of it.

The screw was a symptom - the problem will continue to worsen, in fact.

Best to keep your backups current - if the condition deteriorates to the point where the computer stops working, it will be too late to backtrack.  At the least, back up your most critical data where you can access it in case of need.  Options might include a USB drive, Cloud storage, a remote disk, even email - select a location Not on the computer for your backups, of course.

The repair cost is NOT something we can estimate - we are not HP Support.

Whether or  not HP will accept this type of out-of-warranty repair is not something we can know.

That said, we CAN forward a request for review to see what can be done.
