HP Pavilion x360 14-cd0079TX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I'm having HP Pavilion x360 14-cd0079TX and wanted to replace 16GB Intel optane with M.2 500GB SSD.  But I'm confuse with B key socket and M key socket. I'm not sure which socket is my laptop.  kindly advise which is suitable for my laptop. Thanks.

Hi,

You do not need to think too much about B+M

Both M2 SATA3 ((with two notches) and M2 PCIe NVMe (with one notch) will fit in the laptop. The notebook also offers support for both types of SSDs.

The Crucial P1 is a cheaper and slower PCIe NVMe SSD, so a better choice would be the Samsung 970 Evo Plus or similar.

On page 36 of service manual you can see the steps to install the drive:

You should disable the Optane memory before removing. Look at the bottom of the page in the linke below on ho to disable in IRST

Hope it helps,

@Dev_3, welcome to the forum.

Here is an excellent guide to help you determine which socket is in your notebook, B or M.  Also, here are the M.2, SSD's, that Crucial recommends for your notebook.  Crucial makes very good quality SSD's.  They are the retail outlet for Micron.

@Old_geekster, Thanks for the Info.

I did the Crucial system scanning, but it's recommended both types of M.2 SSD.

That means my laptop compatible with both types?
