My HP notebook 15-ay028ac (touch) energy star  showing 601 error message. Is it 4cell 41 wh Li-ion battery(807956-001)  is compatible for my laptop which is purchased with 3 cell 31 wh Li-ion battery? 

HP HS 04 4-Cell Notebook Battery (N2L85AA) ...is this is suitable for 15-ay028ac

Yes its a removeable clip-in battery and either the 3-cell or 4-cell battery will fit and work for you:
