Pavilion 17-g015dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

aka M5H37UAR#ABA

Keyboard is working fine, but it's gotten a lot of use and several of the keys are worn off.  If possible, I'd like a source of replacement keyboard and step-by-step instructions starting from "1.  Turn off the computer."  🙂

Thank you

Hi,

It is going to be quite expensive and a difficult job to do.

The keyboard comes as one part with top cover and the part number is 809302-001

It is not available in the HP parts store, so you can perform an online search with part number:

Example:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.X809302-001.TRS...

Now the whole computer is placed in the top cover as you can see by removing bottom cover (page 33 service manual).

So turn off the PC 😀

Now you need to remove everything from the top cover and place into the new top cover. First, remove the display assembly (page 62 of the service manual). You can then  follow the steps on page 55 of the service manual to remove the touchpad and then continue from there (speakers, power button board...)

Service manual:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04655191

You could also take to your local computer store and see if they could regenerate the keyboard on the laptop somehow.

Hope it helps,

David
