I have this product with 3 months left in the warranty, and I wanted a replacement part shipped back to me.
My laptop took a nasty hit in a fall, and as a result, my back cover has had a piece fall off of it, along with a fracture on the bottom cover.
I went to PartSurfer and found the part I was looking for, but there's no area I can input my warranty info into.
Why is this? Is self-repair not allowed under warranty?

Self repair is not allowed under warranty.
You've to contact HP technical support and they would source the parts needed after assessing the damages.
But accidental damages are not covered within warranty and it automatically has voided warranty. So it is chargeable.
You've to search the HP part number through online stores or HP part store in your region and buy them.
If you're doing the replacement yourself, whole responsibility of any further damage lies upon you.
