Replacement of SSD in HP 15-ay013nr 15.6" Full-HD Laptop

Hi,

In your PC you can either install an M2 SSD (which you have now) with larger capacity (even 1TB). On page 66 of the service manual you can see where it is installed. There is a special SSD M2 board. You can install any brand of M2 Sata SSD in this board.

You can also install a regular 2.5" HDD. You will need to remove the M2 SSD and also replace the board in the PC. The part number for the HDD board is 817878-001. You can see this on page 60-61 of service manual. You can install any 2.5" HDD in you PC.

Once you install the new hard drive you are going to have to reinstall the OS either with HP recovery disks or by downloading the Windows 10 OS from Microsoft and performing a clean install. It will automatically activate as long as you install the same edition (home or pro) as was already installed on the PC.

Service manual:

Let me know if you need further help,

David
