I have a laptop of hp 14q series which comes with inbuilt SSD 256GB drive. But now I need to install HDD on it. Do I need to use external HDD drive or is there any option of installing HDD in motherboard itself or some other slot?

@meghaggarwal , welcome to the forum.
It appears that there is a bay for a HDD. Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the laptop:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06146800
On Pages 36 and 37 is a list of compatible HDD's and instructions on how to remove and install the HDD. Before you buy a HDD, however, I suggest that you open the case to see if all of the necessary parts are provided to install the HDD. There are instructions in the Guide to help you with opening the case.
