HP ENVY Notebook - m6-p114dx (Touch) (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

On my HP Envy M6-P114DX laptop, I wanted to undo the Battery Safe Mode.  I selected the "Accept" button, but wanted to select the "Decline" button.

In BIOS I cannot highlight that option.  The highlight bar jumps right over it.  My BIOS is F.22.

I did have an HP battery recall done, back in 2017 or 2018.  That battery recently swelled up so I had to replace it.  HP no longer has a battery for me.  So I bought one off of Amazon.

It works, but the battery Safe mode message pops up EVERY time I power my laptop on.  I need to reverse the "Accept" choice I incorrectly selected.

Can anybody help me?

I actually figured out a way.

If I unplug the battery, and then power up the laptop with the power adapter, the Battery Safe Mode resets to "Normal."

If I then power down, unplug the power adapter, plug the battery back in, plug the power adapter back in and power up the laptop, I get the banner message and I can then accept the "Decline" option.

Now my battery is being charged by the system.

I hope this helps anybody else who has this problem.

HP should really make an option to disable that now,  since they do not supply an HP battery for this old laptop anymore.

In typical fashion, the HP laptop is performing flawlessly after 6 years.  The only things I have done is replace the spinner HD with a 1TB SSD, and upgraded the memory to 16GB.

I am running Windows 10 Home, as the CPU is not Windows 11 compatible.  So I can easily continue to use this awesome laptop until Microsoft stops supporting Windows 10.

Hope this helps,

Since I now have a new, good Amazon battery, the laptop is 100% again.

You have already resolved your own issue.

Great job!
