Hi @User12318,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you! If the USB and USB-C ports on the right side of your HP Pavilion x360 are not working while the left side ports function correctly, this issue could be related to hardware or software problems. Here’s a systematic approach to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Step 1: Check Hardware Connections
Inspect Ports for Physical Damage:
- Check the right-side USB and USB-C ports for any visible damage, debris, or obstruction. Sometimes, dust or debris can cause connectivity issues.
Try Different Devices:
- Plug different USB devices (e.g., mouse, flash drive) into the right-side ports to confirm if the issue is specific to certain devices or affects all devices.
Check Power Supply:
- Ensure that the laptop is properly connected to the power supply and that the power adapter is functioning correctly.
Step 2: Update or Reinstall Drivers
Update USB Drivers:
- Open Device Manager (search for it in the Start menu).
- Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section.
- Right-click on each USB controller and select Update driver. Choose the option to search automatically for updated driver software.
Reinstall Drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click on each USB controller and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers upon reboot.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any updates that may include driver updates.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

Hi @User12318,
Please find the remaining steps below.
Step 3: Test BIOS/UEFI Settings
Enter BIOS/UEFI Setup:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing the designated key during startup (usually F10, F2, or Esc, depending on your model).
Check USB Settings:
- Look for settings related to USB configuration. Ensure that USB ports are enabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings.
Restore Defaults:
- If you’ve made any changes, consider restoring the BIOS/UEFI settings to their default values and then test the ports again.
Step 4: Perform a Hard Reset
- Hard Reset Procedure:
- Disconnect the power adapter and any connected devices.
- If the battery is removable, take it out.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge residual power.
- Reconnect the battery (if removable), plug in the power adapter, and start the laptop.
Step 5: Check for Hardware Issues
Inspect Internal Connections:
- If you’re comfortable with disassembly, check internal connections to the right-side USB and USB-C ports. Loose or damaged cables can affect functionality.
Run Hardware Diagnostics:
- Many HP laptops come with built-in diagnostic tools. Restart your laptop and press the designated key (usually F2) to enter diagnostics mode and run tests related to USB ports.
If the issue persists after trying all the above steps, it may indicate a hardware fault—Contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
