HP Probook 640 G2
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Using HP Probook 640 G2

 - Currently have HP 256GB M2 PCIe

 - Drive works very well, need more space

 - Have 1TB SSD Drive and was going to remove the PCIe card, but not sure I need to.

Can I use a  2.5" SATA drive and the PCIe drives at the same time.  Appears to be room for both in the Chasis.  Manual didn't cover this.

Hi Thomas,

Yes you can use both drives at the same time. You might need the hard drive bracket part number 840682-001 as you can see on page 39 of service manual

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04919621

You can find in HP parts store:

https://parts.hp.com/hpparts/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=DEB0DF8DAD7A4AFE8E7B2D5DF517913B&SearchIn=P...

or you can try searching online with part number.

Hope it helps,

David

See this video David, this model may not be supporting dual drive at the same time.

M.2 SSD and hard drive is occupying the same hard drive bay with M.2 SSD horizontally and HDD vertically oriented without any altitude difference between the SATA and PCIe slots, making dual drive configuration difficult.

Yes I see what you mean and I believe you are correct as I can not see how to insert both drives even though they must have seperate connections since the M2 has PCIe lanes.
