Hi,

I have a built - in SD card reader in my HP notebook but I have just inserted my SD card for the first time on this laptop and it does not recognise anything?

I have checked the card on another computer and the card appears to be working fine.

I have tried to update the driver but it says the driver is up to date?

Help very much appreciated

Thanks

@aiwm,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the SD card reader is not working correctly.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

  • Step 1. Right click “My Computer” and select “Disk Management”.
  • Step 2. In Disk Management, your SD card will appear as a removable disk. Check if it has a drive letter like D or E.
  • Step 3. If not, right click the SD card and select “Change Drive Letter and Paths”.
  • Step 4. Click “Add” and select a drive letter, then click “OK”. Your SD card would be working in File System along with local disks.

If you continue facing the issue, then make sure that write protected SD card will not be displayed on other devices, except the original one. So if you did lock your SD card before, the first thing is to remove write protection from SD card. Check the lock switch beside the card or use disk utility. It can also fix SD card not showing up on Windows 10.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!
