omen laptop 15-en1038ur

Hello, looking for some technical clarification regarding the HP Omen 15-en1038ur laptop. I would like to upgrade the internal SSD from the current 512GB drive to a 1TB NVMe SSD. I understand that this model may have only one M.2 slot, but I like to confirm whether there is truly only one M.2 slot available, or if a second one exists (which would allow using both SSDs simultaneously). Additionally, concerned about thermal performance. I plan to install an SSD that tends to get warm under load, so I would like to know the maximum allowable height (clearance) for a heatsink or thermal pad in the M.2 slot area. Could you please tell me how much space is available above the SSD when the laptop is closed, and whether any stock heatsink or thermal pad is already present? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi:

That information is not available in any HP documentation.

The service manual from HP is not currently available but you can download it from this site:

Free PDF manual download for the HP OMEN 15-en0000 Maintenance and Service Guide

Chapter 5, pages 33 & 34 of the service manual indicate that the currently installed SSD is housed inside a thermal enclosure which means that a drive with a heatsink already included would not fit.

The notebook has support for two M.2 NVME SSDs.  See chapter 1 of the service manual.

Here's a video which shows the inside of the notebook, and the two SSD locations underneath the thermal enclosures.
