Can i use M.2 ssd and the built in hdd both at a time?and what type of m.2 SSD can i use with my laptop? (pavilion 15-au171tx) . If i want to use SSD in place of built hdd , is that possible for myy device (pavilion 15-au171tx) and what kind of SSD that should be?

Its specs
You should be able to add M.2 SATA SSD drive to your machine (and keep existing HDD) using
https://www.crucial.com/products/ssd/crucial-mx500-ssd
https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/860evo/
Or similar from reputable vendors.
One example (compatible drive, can use smaller/larger capacity)
https://www.crucial.com/ssd/mx500/ct1000mx500ssd4/ct11908845
