I am currently searching for a laptop to buy I saw a good deal on the HP Laptop 15s-fq5040ne, Intel Core i7-1255U and the HP Laptop 15-fd0107ne I7-1255U My first question is what’s the difference between them and which is better Secondly, I saw a lot of people complaining about the build quality and the hinge of the 15s So did any one have an experience with it and I am also scared of the display, I feel that the sides are too big to nowadays laptops and is the display good for watching videos and movies and how is the battery performance and can it be changed by type-c? Thanks.

Hi @feng192,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
The HP 15s-fq5040ne and HP 15-fd0107ne both come with the Intel Core i7-1255U, so performance should be similar. However, the differences could be in display type, RAM, storage, ports, or build quality.
15s-fq5040ne – Likely from the HP 15s series, which is thinner and lighter but may have weaker build quality (hinge issues reported).
15-fd0107ne – May have better build and cooling, but slightly heavier.
Now, before recommending a model, what will you use the laptop for?
Work & Office – Prioritize battery life & keyboard comfort
Gaming – Look for dedicated GPU & good cooling
Movies & Content – Need better display (IPS, FHD, anti-glare)
Students – Look for lightweight, good battery and Type-C charging
The display bezels might be larger than newer premium models, but the screen should still be good for casual video watching. Battery life varies, but most 15s models don’t support USB-C charging unless explicitly mentioned.
Would you like help finding alternatives with better build quality or a smaller bezel display? 😊
