should I set it to enabled ? what happens if it has been disabled for a long time ? what is the default setting, enabled or disabled ?

Hi:

 

The default setting is enabled.

 

It is set to enabled since the notebook is running on A/C power there is no drain on the battery.

 

I always turn it off.

 

Why?

 

Because if the notebook needs additional cooling, it will turn on the fan at a speed that it needs to cool down the PC.

 

The other reason is the more you run the fan, the more dust and lint it sucks in, and that clogs the heat sink and fan blades.

 

It doesn't matter how clean your environment is.  There is always some dust in the air.
