Seems strange as the laptop is only 9 months old and rarely used.I ran CHKDSK and that found no errors. Is it possible that there is another reason for the Smart Check failure?

HP will be replacing the SSD under warranty. Thanks.

The SMART check tests for much more than chkdsk and indicates problems with the internal electronic integrity of the device, not just the file structure. Glad to hear its covered for you.
