Hi @DJS201123,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Seeing smoke coming from your HP Pavilion laptop when you plug it in is a serious issue and indicates a potentially dangerous electrical or hardware problem. Here’s what you should do immediately:
1. Unplug the Laptop
- Immediate Action: Disconnect the power adapter from both the laptop and the power outlet immediately to prevent further damage or risk of fire.
2. Power Off the Laptop
- If the laptop is still on, shut it down immediately if you can do so safely. Press and hold the power button until the laptop turns off.
3. Inspect the Power Adapter and Cable
- Check for Damage: Look at the power adapter and its cable for any visible signs of damage, fraying, or melting. If you notice any, stop using the adapter immediately.
