Would love to limit charging to 80% and remind me when charge is down to 20%. How can I do that?

Hi @MICKKAS,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

HP does not provide built-in software to limit battery charging to 80% on the HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15. However, here are some workarounds.

Use Windows Battery Management Features

Windows 11/10 does not natively allow battery charge limiting, but you can:

  • Manually manage charging by unplugging when it reaches 80%.
  • Use battery saver mode to alert you when the battery is low (at 20%).

To enable low battery alerts:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Power & battery.
  2. Under Battery saver, set it to turn on at 20%.
  3. Windows will remind you when the charge drops.

Check Your BIOS Settings

Some HP business laptops have Battery Care Mode in BIOS, but HP Pavilion series generally lacks this option. You can check by:

  1. Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  2. Look for a setting like Battery Charge Limit or Adaptive Battery.
  3. If available, enable it and set the limit to 80%.

Use Smart Plug or Timer

  • If you charge overnight, using a smart plug with a timer set to turn off after 1-2 hours can help maintain an 80% charge.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
