HP Spectre x360

I have a Spectre 360 laptop which will no longer charge. The small light does not come on when i plug in the adapter (either white or red).

I've bought a new charger but it still will not charge using the new adapter.

I've performed a battery test (via F2 on boot) which has passed. I've also tried the hard reset which didn't make any difference.

Other than that, the laptop itself seems fine and is currently working ok on the remaining battery power that is left.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Praveen196,

Thanks for your reply.

You are correct, it did turn out to be the power connector. I order a spare connector and i used the official HP videos to disassemble the laptop and replace the connector.

It turns out the left hand hinge (connecting the display panel to the keyboard panel) was not properly screwed in when the laptop was originally manufactured. The power connector runs behind this hinge. Everytime the display was lifted to use the laptop, the hinge would wobble because the screws were not tight and would put a slight strain on 2 of the wires in the connector. This eventually weakened the wires and they snapped.

It was simply a case of dismantling almost the whole laptop to gain access to the power connector. Then replace it - and while i was at it, i secured the hinge to hopefully prevent this happening again.

Thanks for you help.
