Spectre x360 1st gen stopped charging

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

A few days ago while I`m working on my laptop I noticed that it stopped charging, there was a message: "Plugged in, not charging". I tried to charge it with a different( 100% working charger) and it didn`t help. After I unplugged the chargers I noticed that the charging led keeps lighting even though it shouldn`t.

The next day I tried to go over the steps of a soultion that an HP tech guy suggested here in the forums:

Step 1. Go to Device Manager
Step 2. Select Batteries
Step 3. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
Step 4. Click Uninstall
Step 5. At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
Step 6. Shutdown the computer
Step 7: Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in

 

It seemed like the solution worked cause the charging led started to work properly and while the laptop was on there was the normal message: "Charging", even though it didn`t charge, I saw the battery drains as the percents go lower and lower every couple of minutes.

Now, I don`t have any more battery left and when I plug it in nothing happens and the led doesn`t work anymore.

Please help me. I really don`t know how it happened, this latop is less than 2 years old and I rearly use it so there isn`t any chance that the battery is dead.

Similar problem except mine does not even detect that it is plugged in.

Mine too, it did only at the begining. Now nothing happens when I plug in the power adapter.

If you find a solution please tell me. I`ll do the same.

Follow below steps to fix this issue.

 

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.

 

Here is how you do it.

 

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

 

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

 

If the issue persists, follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

Spectre x360 1st gen stopped charging

  • When was the last time the PC was working fine? Wednesday (May 3, 2017). This is when it stopped charging.
  • What is the operating system you are using? Windows 10
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer? No,  i did not change anything. I am a pretty light user.
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting? I have not been able to because my laptop has already died because it will not charge. I am not sure what to do and if it is a software issue or a hardware issue

Spectre x360 1st gen stopped charging

Hi

 

This article mainly deals with issues regarding startup. My issue is regarding the laptop not charging, everything else is fine.
