In the past 4-5 months my laptop has developed inconsistent charging through the type-c posts. Sometimes it charges, sometimes it doesn't. There is not damage to the type-c ports, and I have 4-5 type-c chargers and they all succumb to the sporadic charging issue. From what I can tell, this is a common defect with HP these days (usually a software thing from what I can tell, not a hardware thing),  It is an infuriating problem, lessened only by COVID halting all of my coffee shop activity. Please advise a fix. Thank you in advance!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the battery is not getting charged correctly through the USB C port.

 

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

 

I recommend you update the BIOS and the chipset driver from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.

If you continue facing the issue, then run a test on the USB C port and the battery following the steps in the below article.

While I updated the suggested drivers and Bios, that has not solved the sketchy charging. I also the hardware tests and nothing came up as broken. Please advise further!

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

 

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
