Spectre x360 motherboard dead

I purchased a HP Spectre x360 in July 2015 and the motherboard has apparently died. I rarely used it- mostly for bills and spreadsheets. I'm disappointed that it lasted for as little use as it did. I will be trying a different company for replacement laptop. Is there a way to recover my data from my laptop without taking it to a service?

Update- I have the hard drive out- and a new laptop. I just want to be sure the get the right adapter.
