Star Wars Special Edition 15-an097nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Star Wars Special Edition 15-an097nr Notebook will not power on. LED light next to power port does not light up. No fan or hard drive sounds. No shut offs or spontaneous reboots prior to the issue. The battery is dead. It ran out in my bag and the notebook would not power up on AC adapter after. Here are the troubleshooting steps I have tried:

— Pressing power button with AC adapter plugged in and battery out.

— Pressing power button with AC adapter plugged in and battery in

— Power drain: Holding power button 30-60 seconds with battery out

— Replaced power cable and brick

— Visual inspection. Nothing appears broken or cracked or loose or disconnected.

— Replaced power jack which plugs into motherboard. Tested with and without the (dead) battery in place.

I Have not tried a different battery because I cannot charge it without the PC and to my knowledge replacement batteries are not sold pre-charged.

Is there anything else I can try before proceeding with a motherboard replacement? The machine is out of warranty and I really, really do not want to replace the motherboard. Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Just to be clear, it was running as long as there was battery power? If so it could be the power jack module which can be replaced or even the power button board. See item 5 on p. 25 and 13 on p. 27. These are kind of Hail Mary last ditch options as it is likely to be a bad motherboard but if so how could it keep running on battery power?
