HP Pavilion 15-au159nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

A couple of months ago, I noticed that the keyboard has started to stick out and become uneven on my wife's HP Pavilion HP Pavilion 15-au159nr.  I didn't think much of it at the time until last week when I finally started to think something was swelling inside the laptop.  The laptop no longer quite closes properly and stays open a little bit which is apparently due to the swelling of an internal component.

I've read a bit about swollen batteries on a few forums and I feel that her laptop may have this issue.  The laptop does not have an easily removable battery and I haven't taken the laptop apart yet so I can't be sure yet though.

The laptop was purchased new in November 2016 and its 1 year warranty is out so I know HP won't replace anything under warranty.  However, I'm really unhappy with the quality issue of this battery swelling.  It may have already damaged the other components within this $700 laptop less than three years into its life.

Does anyone know if HP provides any compensation for selling a battery that will silently destroy the other parts in the laptop without warning?

Thank you for your time and for reading my complaint and question.
