So, I’m actually having TWO issues related to the Synaptics touchpad in my laptop.

Issue #1: For the past few weeks, the touchpad has been acting like it’s possessed. It appears to be clicking on items it hovers over, and is extremely sensitive to my palms when they sit over it as I’m typing. I’ve seen this before on other laptops, but I’ve always been able to address it by changing the settings. I’ve actually changed the settings to “Low Sensitivity” and have disabled ALL the other functions (tapping, scrolling, etc.). The only function I left checked is “Buttons”. I even deleted the driver from “Device Settings” and let it reinstall on boot-up, but none of these steps have helped.

Issue #2: Because of all this, I’ve started using an external mouse and checked off the option for it to disable the touchpad when a USB mouse is detected. However, in order for this to take effect, I find I have to manually go back to the settings page each and every time I restart the laptop, or it doesn’t work. I’ve never seen this problem before.

If any other specific info is needed, I’ll be glad to supply it. Thank you in advance for any assistance or suggestions.
