Terrible Battery Life

Hello,

 

I have had the HP Spectre for about 3 years and the computer seems to still be running well.  Unfortunately, the battery life has become very bad.  The battery now only lasts between 30 - 60 minutes on a full charge.  This is an issue as I need to be able to use this without being always plugged into a charger.  Does anyone know how I can get a new battery for this computer?  I spent 30 minutes trying to find an 800 number for HP Support and could not find one.

HP Support USA does not publicly post phone numbers.

After you submit your case for a warranty service issue, contact information is displayed on your screen.

 

What to do?

If the computer is covered by extended (purchased) Warranty and that Warranty includes the battery, HP will replace the battery.  It takes a while and you must send the computer to HP.  

 

The Support Contact information is provided later in this message.

 

What else?

 

Battery

Your three year old battery likely just needs to be replaced.

It is an expected event - batteries are meant to be replaced when they are weak / old / failed.

 

  • The battery can certainly be tested.
  • Calibration might be an option but a three year old battery is likely "just old" - calibration may not be useful / possible.
  • Battery replacement is relatively easy - the method is described in the documentation and there are videos to assist, too.
