I have a laptop HP stream 11-d000nu since 2015. After prolonged downtime without using the laptop for about 3 months, the battery failed to charge. Error 601 is displayed. I assume the laptop was left on. Up to this point, the battery was showing no signs of wear. I tried updating, restarting, uninstalling drivers but nothing helped. Is there a way to fix the problem?

Since your Stream is 3+ years old, the error message means that the battery can only charge up to 25% of its original capacity.
If the laptop will boot with the power adapter connected to it but not run on battery, that will confirm it. Replacing the battery with a new one should resolve the issue. You can have that done at a laptop shop.
Here is the part number for the battery from the Maintenance & Service guide for the Stream notebook.
Battery (3-cell, 37-WHr, 3.25-AHr, Li-ion; includes cable)787521-005
You can probably find the battery on eBay. I see them as inexpensive as 33 Euros here in the Netherlands.
Here is a vendor that sells the battery for 33 Euros. They do ship to Bulgaria.
